The 5 T’s of North Shore Mosquito Control

Mosquito Squad of the North Shore needs your support in making your yard less attractive to mosquitoes. Mosquitoes require fresh standing water for laying eggs and nurturing larvae into adult mosquitoes. We have created these 5 easy tips to help you remember what you can do to limit the growth of the local mosquito population and deter mosquitoes from residing in your yard.

1. TIP. Tip every small object around the exterior of your home that could collect water from rain or your irrigation system. Clogged gutters, kid’s toys, and planters are a perfect habitat for mosquito eggs, larva and pupa.

2. TOSS. Remove grass, leaves, branches and other leftover yard clippings. Toss out all weeds from your gardens and remove all trash. A bottle cap is large enough to hold the water needed for a mosquito breeding ground.

3. TURN. Turn over larger items in your yard that could hold water like kiddie pools, sandboxes or toys. Bird baths should be emptied, cleaned and refilled every few days to deter mosquito population growth.

4. REMOVE TARPS. Ensure tarps are taut or remove them entirely. Tarps have a potential to go slack and hold water, make sure any necessary tarps are always taut.

5. TREAT. Call Mosquito Squad of the North Shore. Our traditional mosquito control barrier treatment eliminates up to 90% of the mosquitoes on your property. Don’t forget: mosquitoes are more than just an annoyance; they can carry hazardous diseases such as Zika, West Nile virus, Malaria, Encephalitis and more.
